Women need to follow men’s example and be more efficient when shopping

Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on August 29, 2007 1:51 PM

THE latest research has proved – allegedly – women are better at shopping than men.
This is, of course, rubbish.

They must have accidentally chosen a sample of extraordinarily bright and masculine women and a coincidental batch of hopelessly effeminate men to obtain such a misleading result.

That women like doing the weekly shop is beyond dispute. When that time of the week comes round men are struck with the childhood feeling when informed they could not go out and play football because they had to visit Great Aunt Clara instead.

BBC is hardly presenting a clear picture with its culture of apology

Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on August 23, 2007 4:50 PM

THE BBC has said sorry for using a computer-generated image of Griff Rhys Jones during the opening credits for the series Mountain, on a mountain he had not actually been up.

After the fake phone ins and the competition cons, a string of news programme errors and the cock-up over the Queen, some people believe the BBC is suffering from ‘compulsive honesty’ and a ‘culture of apology’.

But there are yet more allegations.

Why can’t women be the ones to handle baggage at airports?

Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on August 16, 2007 2:48 PM

PICK a moderately priced outsider in the 3.30 at Newmarket and its odds are similar to the chances of British Airways losing your baggage.
They must work very hard at it, because the system seems straightforward. Before you get on a plane your bag is tagged with the flight number. All the handlers have to do is put it on the right plane. How difficult can that be?
I have always managed to get on the right plane, despite a chaotic airport offering me umpteen chances to make a mistake. Surely, their options are more limited.
My wife, a woman, steers me through the confusion and this is where baggage handling goes wrong. Mostly, handlers are men and, as we all know, men never put anything away properly.
If they do, then they forget where, so it’s just the same. Hence a trunk bound for Benidorm might easily take flight for Tenerife.

Resistance movement offers payback against unhelpful doctors’ services

Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on August 9, 2007 3:22 PM

GPs are earning £2,000 a week and working less, which seems like a good deal and no-one blames them for taking it.

There are those, however, who think things have gone too far and have formed a resistance movement.

A spokesman for this shadowy organisation, who himself developed symptoms of beriberi and had been allowed by a receptionist an urgent appointment to see a doctor one day next week, spoke to this column, but would not be identified.

Malingerers take centre stage as new media celebrities

Posted by Trinity Mirror Cheshire on August 2, 2007 9:39 AM

EVERY few months the national papers expose a family of super-scroungers. You know the sort of thing: Woman with 18 children by 13 different dads is given £100,000 of your money to live a life of luxury blah blah blah.
The one thing these families have in common, apart from an amazing ability to milk a system that just confuses everyone else, is that they always, always, always, pose for the Press photographs.
Why on earth do they do this?
